Laser Hair Removal
Laser is a quick and highly efficient method of permanent hair reduction because it treats hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously. It is ideal for reducing unwanted hair quickly and comfortably in areas of dense hair growth such as face, underarms, legs, backs, and bikini lines.
The laser produces a light beam that seeks out the pigment in the hair follicle. The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the laser light converting it to energy which creates enough heat to damage the follicle, destroying its ability to grow.
Laser hair removal is most effective when the hair is in the anagen, or active growing stage. Hair grows at different rates on the body and not all the hair treated will be in the active growing stage at the time of treatment. On average, laser hair removal requires 6-8 treatments to achieve the desired result. During the process you will feel a mild tingling or stinging sensation. Ice is applied to help numb the skin during and after each treatment and topical numbing creams can be used if needed.
Laser hair removal is a shedding process. Initially the hair will look like it is growing back and shedding will occur in 2-3 weeks. Simple exfoliation with a wash cloth helps the hair shedding process.
The skin needs to be clean shaven before each laser treatment, however we like to see the hair at the initial consultation to help us determine the laser settings.
